Picasso level artist, who paints nails, only in Tokyo, AMAZING

Want to have Picasso level art work at your fingertips (literally), then go to JoliNails.
The art work (and detai in nail care) is unbelievable. All these images are HAND-PAINTED.
It only takes about 20-30 minutes per image. Incredible.

New concept beauty salonin Tokyo, childcare and music lessons during treatment

I have to say, this is the best concept salon I have seen.

Mothers can come in, leave their children with a professional child-care specialist in a child-friendly classroom, while mothers go to the 2nd floor and partake in the wide variety of beauty services offered.

Nails, massage, IPL hair removal, threading, facials, waxing, professional hair and make-up for events, eyelash extensions, eyebrow dying...

It's like a dream!

Kids play on the 1st floor with a native English speaking caregiver, while mothers go to the 2nd floor for their treatment.

The prices are reasonable and the quality is very high. Staff have experience in 5 star salons, charging double (or more).

The interior is trendy. The owner is American (i.e. you get to read the latest gossip magazines from the States during your pedicure!----a small perk ;-)

So, if you want a place that is high quality, affordable, bilingual staff, plus childcare for those who need it, I recommend JoliNails in Shirokane.

3 minutes from Shirokane Takanawa. It is a small, botique salon. A gem.

Open everyday.

Also, a great place for a weekend date. Leave the baby in the child zone, while Mom and Dad get a couple's massage or food/hand care. There is a menu for dads too.

Kid's haircut 1000 yen, homework tutoring, while Mom gets her nails done. SUPER FAB idea.

OK, so if you want a GREAT (I don't mean good, I mean OVER THE TOP AMAZING) manicure, you need to go to JoliNails.

If you have kids and need to relax, go to JoliNails.

You just drop your kiddo off on the 1st floor and go to the 2nd floor to relax and get your nails done. Now, the nail artists at JoliNails are seriously TOP class. They are featured in the top nail magazines in Japan, as well as recently in Nail Mag in the States. The design, nail care, everything is more than you will get anywhere.

And the biggest bonus is, it won't cost you an arm and a leg. Nails start at 3500 yen and for a very nice, designer gel nail, they have monthly specials for under 5000 yen.

And there is even HOMEWORK TUTORING in the childcare section. So, you bring your little one for some one-on-one tutoring, while you relax. Now, talk about a WIN-WIN. (childcare is 950 yen an hour, homework tutoring is 2000 yen). And as a special to salon customers only, your child can have a haircut for 1000 yen, by a very experienced hair dresser, who speaks English and worked in London (i.e. she did a fab job with my curly haired son).

There is also threading, eyelash perms and extensions, IPL hair removal. And you can book with 2 therapists at the SAME TIME to save you time. Have your lashes and nails done together.

The staff speak English. It's American owned. You gotta visit!

You can book online too, so it is easy to make an appointment while you are at work or on the go.

Nail salon birthday party, Tokyo

So, it was the perfect birthday party for my 6 year old daughter. Friends, cake, games, accessory making, dancing.... And best of all-----manicures and pedicures at a nail salon. I'm talking REAL, professional mani-pedis, in a hip international salon that grown-ups go to!

Tri-lingual nail artist Lena, from Hungary, gives a manicure

Pedicure

JoliNails (www.joliarts-salon.com) now offers birthday party packages, where girls can indulge in mani-pedis or mini facials. I rented the salon for 2.5 hours.

There is a music and arts classroom JoliArts (www.joliarts.jp) on the first floor, where kids can do art projects (we used paper clips to make bracelets and had an origami making competition) and play games, listen to music, eat cake, etc.  There are options to have musicians come and perform too, since the parent company of JoliArts is a talent agency with loads of performers registered, (www.j-cast.biz)
1F party area, JoliArts www.joliarts.jp

The nailists took reservations in pairs. Two girls and their moms went to the 2nd floor salon JoliNails www.joliarts-salon.com , while the remaining kids played at JoliArts www.joliarts.jp.

I brought a home made candy cake and decorated the room. It was a lot of fun.

How do you like my cake?

Actually, pretty easy to make. Separating the M&Ms was time consuming but it was good mother-daughter bonding.

We had about 20 kids but it was pretty crowded since most of the moms stayed. I think the space is more suitable for 10-15 kids for this kind of party. But, it was so much fun!

Childcare Nail Salon in Shirogane

As a busy mom, I feel guilty taking time to get things done, such as nails. But, the other day, I had my nails done at a local salon BUT...it was a drama organizing childcare, kids screaming to come...I felt guilty!

I want to be a mom, but not LOOK like a mom... Where can I start? The answer: MY NAILS!

After my little one spits up on me and after changing so many dirty nappies, I want to look to my gel nails and feel good about myself.

This is why I am opening a new concept nail and eyelash salon in Shirogane. JoliArts Mama Nail Salon. It will officially open in June offering a variety of nail and pedicure services. I'll be offering major discounts and even be giving free manicures and pedicures to bloggers and moms who can get the word out.

Location: Shirogane (Shirogane Takanawa station, exit 4, 3 minute walk)
Reservations recommended.
Open everyday, except Sunday and Monday.
(Tuesday through Saturday) 11AM-8PM.
Bring your kids. Bring your dog.
There is a spacious, gated child play area and a little space for small dogs at the front.
Bring a friend and you both get a discount.

For more details,visit:

If you are a blogger or feel you can spread the word, please send me an email and apply for a free manicure between May 15th-20th. After that, I can offer special services, such as free nail art and other things to customers who will blog about this and tell friends.

The air is vented, so no m.anicure fumes/smell. High ceilings, 1st floor of a busy shopping street. It's a fun, happening area of Shirogane. You can do some grocery shopping on your way home, or stop by one of the 4 parks located within 2 minutes of the salon

We'll even offer pedicures for kids! Have a manicure date with mommy!
